- Educational Requirement: The applicant must have passed the West Bengal Board of Secondary Education’s Madhyamik Examination or its equivalent.
- Language Requirement: The candidate must be fluent in Bengali in terms of speaking, reading, and writing. Those who live permanently in the hill subdivisions of the Darjeeling and Kalimpong Districts are exempt from this condition.
- Regulating applicants from Darjeeling and Kalimpong Districts’ hill subdivisions will be those outlined in the West Bengal Official Language Act, 1961.
