About RPSC :-
The Rajasthan Public Service Commission has a distinguished history spanning almost 70 years. The Lee Commission advocated in 1923 creating a Central Public Service Commission in India, but it did not consider the necessity of creating comparable bodies in the provinces. The recruitment of and management of the Services were largely left up to the discretion of the province governments.
Only three of the 22 states that had signed the covenant had a public service commission at the time Rajasthan was formed: Jaipur, Jodhpur, and Bikaner. According to a publication in the Rajasthan Gazette dated August 20, 1949, the Rajasthan Public Service Commission Ordinance, 1949, took force following the unification of princely states. Section 1(3) states that the ordinance should go into force on the day the appointment notification is published in the official Gazette, which happened to be December 22, 1949. As a result, the Rajasthan Public Service Commission was founded on December 22, 1949, or to put it another way, the Rajasthan Public Service Commission took effect on December 22, 1949.
The PSCs and other institutions that performed functions akin to those of a PSC in the component states were abolished by the ordinance of August 16, 1949. The ordinance also included provisions regarding the staff, duties, and other aspects of the Commission’s makeup.
The Commission was founded with a Chairman and two Members. Sir S. K. Ghosh, who was Rajasthan’s Chief Justice at the time, was chosen to lead the state’s public service commission. As a result, Shri S. C. Tripathi (I.E.S), a former member of the Union Public Service Commission, was selected as Chairman, along with Shri Devi Shankar Tiwari and Shri N. R. Chandorkar, who were appointed as members. Under the guidelines of the Indian Constitution, the Rajpramukh enacted the following Regulations in 1951 to control how the Commission worked.
Both the Rajasthan Public Service Commission (Conditions of Service) Regulation of 1951 and the Rajasthan Public Service Commission (Limitation of Functions) Regulation of 1951 apply to public employees in Rajasthan.
Public Service Commissions have a rightful place of pride in the Indian Constitution because of their crucial and unbiased roles. The Indian Constitution’s Articles 16, 234, 315β323 discuss the varied duties and authority of the Public Service Commissions. Additionally, the Rajasthan Public Service Commission Rules & Regulation, 1963 and the Rajasthan Public Service Commission govern how the Rajasthan Public Service Commission operates (Regulations and validation of Procedure ordinance 1975 & Act 1976).
